🎙️The 5 questions that'll make or break your cap table

Build your dream cap table with creators who actually care.

Look, the world has changed and distribution is the new market maker.

The brands winning today like: Poppi, Prime & Feastables—they're ALL creator-powered.

You can't build a modern brand without influence. But most founders I talk to are completely lost when it comes to bringing creators onto their cap table.

I keep hearing the same questions over and over. The confusion is real, and it's costing you growth and obviously real $$$.

So let's answer those questions head-on.

📆 WHAT WE WILL HIT ON THIS WEEK:

  • 5 creator equity questions every founder must answer

  • FREE DOWNLOAD: Creator Advisory Board Playbook

  • Industry news, upcoming events & creator spotlight

  • Ask Andy: Your creator equity questions answered

  • Founders Wanted!! Join me on “Office Hours w/ Jeff & Friends”

When founders approach me about bringing creators onto their cap table, they typically have five burning questions:

  1. "WHO?" - How do I identify the right creator for my business?

  2. "HOW MUCH?" - What's the right amount of equity that makes sense for both sides?

  3. "HOW?" - Mechanically, how does this work with my existing cap table and investors?

  4. "WHEN?" - When is the right time to bring on creator equity partners?

  5. "NOW WHAT?" - I just did it. Now what happens next?

The overlooked truth about creator partnerships:

Here's where most founders get it wrong:

Creators aren't just megaphones.

Most founders aren't CMOs. You're not investors either. You're dreamers, operators, ideators. You build things. But you know who talks to your customers every single day? The creator you're thinking about putting on your cap table.

You're thinking about their distribution: How many followers they have, how many eyeballs they can put on your product.

⇢ Yes that matters, but you're missing the bigger opportunity.

The real value? Creators have the most direct line to your customers you could ever ask for.

They’re basically the best listening devices on the planet.

They ask questions like:

  • "Hey guys, would you rather have strawberry or blueberry?"

  • "What if we added this button? Thoughts?"

That relationship, that authenticity, that trust they have with their fans (not followers — there's a difference) is how you rapidly prototype what to build next.

This is why I talk about creating a Creator Advisory Board.

These aren't influencers paid to post. They should listen. They should curate. They should feel like they have a genuine ability to influence the direction of your business.

Why this creates real value

When a creator asks their community about what flavor they wanted most, and then gets to deliver that for their fans — something powerful happens.

The fans influenced the product. And they'll do it again and again.

Now they feel part of it. Their voice is being heard. And they're much more likely to buy, share, and evangelize your product because they had a hand in creating it.

So ask yourself: Are you just chasing followers, or are you building an army of co-creators who feel ownership in your success?

Because that's the game-changing shift happening right now. And if you're still treating creators like walking billboards, you're already losing.

Got wisdom to drop? We need your time.

Office Hours is a live, unscripted LinkedIn LIVE where I will go one-on-one with industry leaders who actually have something to say. Each session runs 60 minutes – no fluff, just straight talk.

The format:

  • Me interviewing one kickass guest (that could be you - just reply to this email)

  • Real-time Q&A where viewers can join the stream

  • Authentic conversations about business building, investing, and the creator economy

  • Bi-weekly cadence

Why this matters:

The ecosystem is drowning in generic content. Everyone's saying the same shit in different words. Office Hours cuts through that noise with conversations that hit different - the kind you'd have over drinks when the cameras are "off."

We're streaming this live to my network of founders, operators and investors who are hungry for real insights, not another motivational speech. They get to ask you their burning questions directly - no filter, no BS.

Who I want in the hot seat:

  • Operators who've built, been there and done that.

  • Investors who bet on people, not just pitch decks.

  • Industry veterans who can tell it like it is.

  • Anyone who can make me laugh while making me smarter.

This isn't about building your personal brand (though that'll happen). It's about sharing the hard-earned wisdom that can only come from someone who's been in the trenches.

If you're interested (and you should be), reply to this newsletter with "Put me in, coach" We're kicking this off this month and spots are limited.

Remember – the best conversations happen when people get real. Let's have one.

📹 Short vs. Long-Form? Both Are Winning in Influencer Marketing

In 2025, brands are no longer choosing sides — they’re blending strategies. Short-form content like TikToks and Reels still crush for awareness and viral traction, but long-form formats (YouTube, podcasts) are surging for trust and high-ticket conversions. Marketers now allocate 40% of influencer content budgets to long-form — up sharply from last year.

🛍️ Best Buy Enters the Creator Storefront Game

Best Buy is launching digital storefronts for influencers this spring, joining Amazon and Walmart in turning creators into curators.

The goal? Drive traffic and conversions by letting creators recommend products directly on Best Buy’s site. With a focus on tech and niche verticals, this move signals a deeper shift toward community-first retail—and another step in merging content and commerce.

💰 Steven Bartlett Bets on Ownership Over a $100M Exit

In a recent Forbes feature, Steven Bartlett revealed he turned down a $100 million acquisition offer for his media company, Flight Story - the force behind his hit podcast The Diary of a CEO.

Rather than cashing out, Bartlett is doubling down on building a long-term, creator-led media empire. His decision reflects a deep belief that retaining full ownership allows for greater creative freedom, strategic flexibility, and long-term value - especially as he expands into books, speaking, and investing.
